General Qualification for Abu Dhabi Court Marriage
- Age: Both parties must be at least 18 years old.
- Consent: Both individuals must provide free consent to the marriage.
- Marital Status: The couple must confirm that they are not currently married to anyone else.
- Identification: Valid passports for both individuals. Emirates ID If applicable.
- Nationality: UAE Nationals are not qualified for this. All other nationalities may apply.
- Religion: All religions are qualified.
Documents Required for Abu Dhabi Court Marriage
To proceed with a civil marriage in Abu Dhabi Court, the following documents are typically required:
- Passport (copy and original).
- A completed marriage application form (available from the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court website).
- Death certificate. If widowed.
- Divorce certificate. If divorced.
- Optional: Prenuptial Agreement (available from the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court website).
Civil Marriage Procedures
To initiate a civil marriage request in Abu Dhabi, you’ll need to submit the necessary documents along with a completed marriage application form. If applicable, a prenuptial agreement may also be included. Once all documents are submitted, authorities will review the request. Upon approval, you can proceed to pay the required fees and select your wedding date.
Civil Marriage Ceremony
The ceremony occurs at the Civil Family Court within the ADJD main court building during specified hours. Couples exchange vows, and rings, invite guests, and take pictures. Afterward, the marriage certificate will be received within a few days based on your chosen service type.
Service Types of Civil Marriages & Fees
There are two service types of civil marriages in Abu Dhabi Judicial Department:
- Standard Civil Marriage: Scheduled by the court within 2 to 3 weeks. The service fee is AED 300
- Express Marriage: Allows spouses to choose the date within 2 to 3 days. The service fee is AED 2,500.
